In the near future, every device, like a toaster or a key chain, will have intelligence associated with it, said a semiconductor expert.
Delivering the India Semiconductor Association (ISA) vision summit keynote address, Dr Aart de Geus, Chief Executive Officer of electronic design automation company Synopsys, said that companies in India had to gear up to meet the challenges of such a world. “In your mind, you have to be a multinational company from day one,” he said.
Stating that differentiation is the key for success, he pointed out that his Nasdaq-listed company, which had revenues of over $1.5 billion in financial year 2011, invests around 30 per cent in research and development. “You have to deliver something that is better, you have to do it sooner and you have to do it cheaper,” he said.
