It's not just products that Mr Steve Jobs inspired but his management principles have inspired a number of CEOs and entrepreneurs in the Indian telecom space.
“One cannot recollect of a bigger innovator than him. As the world of telecom moves to data his innovations will always be remembered. The way he lived his life should be an inspiration to young professionals. One can learn that it is not about where you study but what you learn and the best will come when you love what you do,” said Mr Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, Bharti Airtel.
Although Apple products such as iPhone and iPad are not getting big numbers in India, operators said the devices have set a new standard.
Mr Syed Safawi, President and CEO Wireless Business, RCom, said, “Steve was a legendary innovator who created a new paradigm for the technology industry at large. He redefined consumer needs based on innovation and form factor, rather than research.”
“Steve Jobs not only completely redefined customer experience but also forced many other industries including wireless services to relook and reinvent and increase focus on customer experience,” said Mr Vsevolod Rozanov, CEO, Sistema Shyam.
Network equipment vendors who were inspired to ramp up their network technologies to meet the demand for more bandwidth due to increasing use of iPhone and iPad also recognised Jobs contribution.
“Steve Jobs was a visionary and an inspirational leader who not only transformed the industry but also influenced user behaviour by offering them innovative devices to experience the power of technology to the fullest. The industry will always remain thankful for his great contribution,” said Mr Fredrik Jejdling, President and Head of Region, Ericsson India.
Mr Sandeep Girotra, Head India Region, Nokia Siemens Networks, called Jobs a visionary inventor and innovator, “Steve's impact on design simplicity will continue to inspire generations to come. He defined the coming together of geekiness and pure aesthetics.”
