The countdown to the New Year has already begun and the technology space is gearing up to receive the new launches of 2013.
The space is already buzzing with speculation about new devices, gadgets and operating system launches. Interest in the smartphone space is at an all-time high.
BlackBerry 10
“The year 2013 will witness colossal strides of innovation in the field of mobile devices where we will continue to witness powerful yet efficient processors clubbed with technologies such as near field communication, 4G and applications,” said Sunil Lalvani, Director Enterprise Sales, Research In Motion India. The BlackBerry maker is all geared up to launch the much-awaited ‘BB10’ at the end of January 2013.
“At RIM, the excitement is building up as we are nearing the time of the global launch of the much-awaited BlackBerry 10. Globally, the BlackBerry 10 will be launched on January 30, followed by region focused launches including India, being high priority market for RIM. Through the year the BlackBerry 10 devices would be released, in various form factors,” said Lalvani.
Nokia has also lined up a series of launches next year. The affordable yet efficient ‘Nokia Asha’ family of smartphones is set to see a few more models added to its portfolio. Adding to their ‘Asha’ series, Nokia is launching the Nokia Asha 205 and 206.
Viral Oza, Director Marketing, Nokia India, said, “We are launching two new exciting handsets - Nokia Asha 205 (will be available in Dec ‘12 end) and Nokia 206 (in Q1 2013) to deliver to our strategy of connecting the next billion to the Internet. We will continue to create new benchmarks in the year 2013 as well, by launching a slew of Nokia devices at newer price points.”
Although prices have not been disclosed, Lumia 620 is said to be one of the most affordable Windows Phone 8 device.
Samsung launch
Although the company has not confirmed, there is speculation that South Korean phone-maker Samsung will launch the next in its Galaxy series, S4, next year.
Apart from devices, technology giant Microsoft plans to launch the cloud-connected New Office where a consumer can access his data from a range of devices.
