The Special Court hearing the 2G spectrum case on Thursday turned down the plea of Reliance ADAG Managing Director, Mr Gautam Doshi, – an accused – to attend the Annual General Meeting of Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd. Mr Doshi, a Director of Sterlite, wanted to attend the meeting at Tuticorin on July 23. Pointing out that Mr Doshi is in judicial custody, the court said he cannot claim that he should be permitted to attend the AGM of a company in connection with his profession at a far away place, especially when the allegations against him are of serious nature and his bail plea has been dismissed. It added that when the accused is in custody, he cannot be accused of wilful default in not attending the AGM.
