Bharti Airtel has made an investment of $150 million, routed through its Mauritius-based wholly-owned subsidiary, in its African operations. Additionally, the telecom operator had also provided a $154-million guarantee through a Netherlands-based joint venture firm, according to investment banking sources. The investments were for regular operations and financial costs in Airtel Africa, said sources. When contacted, a Bharti Airtel spokesperson said the investments pertain to the company’s normal course of business.
