International firms uploading podcasts on iTunes store

Wealth management and financial advisories are now providing free research through Apple stores to their clients. This research is in the form of iPad applications which provide users a variety of information on a single platform.

The advisories offer a number of things through their applications, right from stock market research to expert advice and investing tips.

Ipad applications

This research can be accessed and downloaded by anyone having access to an iPhone or iPad.

“We have recently developed an iPad application which provides free research to our clients,” said Mr Nikhil Kapadia, Chief Executive Officer – Wealth Management, Avendus Capital.

The Avendus Securites application is available on the Apple store from where their clients can access information on a sector-specific basis or can view information on a specific company.

Updated reports are also available in the application. The application “also provides clients the comfort required to take critical decisions when optimising the risk reward equation.”

Research reports

IIFL too has introduced a similar research application where “clients can search for and download research on more than 150 stocks under coverage.”

“Our application focuses on IIFL customers. It allows them to read and download extensive research reports. Clients can also view commentaries on markets in India, China and Sri Lanka,” said Mr Sankarson Banerjee, CIO, IIFL

“Many of our clients use our Web site extensively for analysis and research. We realised that institutional investors needed something more than a Web site,” said Mr. Banerjee.

“We have 130-140 clients who regularly use this application,” he added. The application is available in iTunes under the finance category.

Podcasts on itunes

Companies such as UBS Wealth Management and J.P. Morgan, which have international presence, are uploading podcasts on the iTunes store. These podcasts can be downloaded and the latest commentary and updates on the market can be heard on any device.

Credit Suisse, a private bank, also has a number of podcasts available on iTunes. These podcasts are regularly updated and users can subscribe to them. They are available to Indian as well as global investors. This facility can be accessed through MP3 players, cell phones or the iPad.
