Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd on Monday said its Internet services were disrupted after three major under sea cables that connect India to other parts of the world got cut.
The three cables cut include the Sea-Me-We-4, IMEWE and EIG cable systems. "BSNL has lost around 21 per cent of its total international bandwidth. BSNL is pursuing with its international bandwidth partners to restore connectivity expeditiously, who are in turn pursuing with their business partners involved in this restoration process," the State-run telecom company said on Monday.
This sudden unexpected reduction in the International bandwidth is suspected to cause some delay in accessing various international sites and their responses across the country. "Action is being taken by BSNL to divert domestic traffic judiciously ensuring that the request for Internet bandwidth is passed on the International gateway only if found necessary," BSNL said.
Customers of other telecom companies have also complained of poor speeds for the past two days. Because of this sudden disruption, customers accessing broadband Internet through the fixed line network as well as mobile customers may face some hardship in accessing broadband services till the disruption is restored by International bandwidth partners.
