Bharti Airtel on Sunday said it has received EuroFinance Treasury award for implementing its treasury architecture software integrating operations across 20 nations and swift work on managing debt of around $13 billion.
“The award specifically acknowledged Bharti Airtel’s implementation of centralised treasury architecture, integrating operations across 20 countries at speed and its swift work on managing substantial ($13 billion) and complex funding needs,” Bharti Airtel said in a statement.
Treasury architecture is the company’s software for managing funds.
The company had taken $10.7 billion loan for acquiring African telecom company Zain in 2010.
As of March 31, 2012, the company reported net debt of $12.7 billion and recently took a short-term loan of $150 million through its Singapore subsidiary to fund its Africa business.
“Integration challenge arose post the acquisition of 15 country operations from Zain in Africa in 2010, which the Airtel treasury won over comprehensively,” the statement said.
The company said it has been managing funds from over 50 lenders across over 100 facilities in Asia and Africa through its centralised treasury architecture.
