Canadian handset manufacturer BlackBerry is refocusing on the Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) segment in India, banking on its recently launched solutions and value-added services.
The company expects this move to help it consolidate its leadership position in the Indian EMM market, which has an addressable market size of $1.8 billion. “India’s EMM market is still under penetrated from the solutions point of view, and we see a huge opportunity out there,” said Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director for India at BlackBerry, told BusinessLine in an interaction. Last week, BlackBerry had launched an array of EMM solutions across the globe. EMM is the set of processes and technology to manage mobile devices and wireless networks to enable mobile computing in a business environment.
In India, the company expects corporates to migrate to the new BlackBerry Enterprise Solutions (BES12), an upgraded version of its existing cross-platform EMM solution BES10. Its BES10, which was launched about 18 months ago, is being used by more than 1,000 enterprises in India. BlackBerry is also looking at providing a secure mobility solution for Android devices in India, under its global partnership with Samsung Electronics. The Korean company would use BlackBerry’s solution to secure Android devices.
“The potential lies in the fact that many users are updating their Android devices and there is a huge fear of malware (malicious software),” Lalvani said.
Baking on BlendThe company is also banking on its Blend, a suite that improves employee productivity by securely accessing personal and work data from BlackBerry smartphones on any desktop or tablet. BlackBerry also expects WorkLife, which enables addition of up to nine numbers on a single SIM card, to find traction in India. This will enable corporates to separate ó and official calls and mails of the user, and bill them separately.
