Nasdaq listed Cadence Design Systems, which makes integrated circuits has acquired Bangalore based Cosmic Circuits for an undisclosed sum.

Cosmic Circuits is a provider of analogue and mixed signal IP cores that goes into electronic devices, according to statement from Cadence. As part of this transaction, the IC and Systems business of

Cosmic Circuits will be spun off into a separate new company to be owned by certain existing shareholders of Cosmic Circuits, the statement added.

With this acquisition, Cadence broadens its IP portfolio like 40nm and 28nm chipsets, thereby enabling it deeper access into areas like mobile phones, data centre and other areas, according to industry watchers. The acquisition is expected to close in 30 to 60 days.

Founded in 2005 the Bangalore based, Cosmic Circuits has more than 75 global customers. Martin Lund, Cadence’s senior vice president of R&D for SoC Realization said: “The addition of Cosmic Circuits’ technology and talent enhances Cadence’s position in the analog/mixed-signal IP market."

Ganapathy Subramaniam, CEO of Cosmic Circuits said: "Our focus on low-power mobile and time-to-market critical consumer IP markets will add to Cadence’s high-speed serial IP for cloud/server applications.”
