Google, the online search firm which is expanding to other aspects of computing, will unveil its Chrome Operating System (OS) this year. “It is being tested in some countries in Google notebooks. We are expecting it to be ready this year. It is being bundled with hardware,” Mr Vinay Goel, Head of Products (Google India), said.
Mr Vinay, however, has given no time frame for India launch of the OS.
Critics commented that the new OS would pose a tough challenge to Microsoft's Explorer. Before launching the OS, the search giant is also giving away OS-enabled laptops to high-school students in the West for their feedback.
