Everonn Education has appointed Mr A. M. Thimmiya as the CEO of its wholly-owned subsidiary Everonn Skill Development. This comes at a time when the impasse over its partnership with National Skill Development Council continues.
Last year, Everonn Skill Development signed a pact with the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), a not-for-profit company set up by the Ministry of Finance. NSDC had invested Rs 14.5 crore for a 27 per cent stake in Everonn Skill Development, mandating it to train 15 million people by 2022.
But with Everonn Education's co-founder Mr P. Kishore (Mr Kishore resigned as MD last week) being accused of tax evasion and bribery, one is not sure of the fate of the NSDC joint venture. While there have been conflicting reports on where this partnership is headed, with some reports even suggesting that NSDC is not interested in the stake, the latest is still not known.
Meanwhile, Mr Thimmiya takes over from Mr T.V. Jayaraman who resigned over a month ago.
Mr Thimmiya has 29 years of experience in the areas of training and education. Prior to joining Everonn Skill Development, he was with Manipal Education spearheading the distance education community.
Mr Thimmiya's responsibilities as CEO of Manipal Education (Middle East and Africa) included Manipal University in Dubai and other interests of the group in the region.
