Global travel company Expedia is setting up a technology excellence hub in Gurgaon, Haryana, and expects to hire 300 employees by this year-end. “Given our focus on raising revenues beyond North America, the choice of Gurgaon in India to set up the centre is a stepping stone in our strategy to grow in the Asian region,” Edmond Mesrobian, Chief Technology Officer, said. He said the centre would be responsible for developing technology solutions for its global operations. “It will cater to demands of all the brands, including Expedia, Hotels.com as well as Egencia,” he added. From enhancing user experience to driving innovation in payments and transactions, the technology teams will look into providing solutions for search engine optimisation as well as analytics. Expedia, which acquired mobile travel applications developer Mobiata in 2010, is also keen on expanding its presence on mobile and emerging platforms.
