Beginning January 1, 2015, your Facebook account comes with a few updated terms and policies.
The social networking site comes up with a how-to guide in Privacy Basics, letting you “take charge of your experience on site”.
This facility gives answers to the most commonly asked questions about how you can control your information on the site. It seeks to address one of the toughest challenges most users face – how to untag from annoying or unsolicited posts, unfriend and how to block. It will also teach the users how to pick audience for each of their posts.
With people accessing their Facebook accounts from multiple devices (laptops, mobile phones, desktops and tablets), the networking site says it is going to allow people to opt out in one device and that single choice would apply across all the devices.
“We've heard from some of you that it can be difficult to control the types of ads you see if you use multiple devices and browsers. In the past, if you opted out of certain kinds of advertising on your laptop, that choice may not have been applied for ads on your phone,” the firm said in a notification sent to the users last night.
This ad preference option has been extended to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK. Other countries are expected to be covered in a later phase.
