As a child we have all been in awe of the Rubik’s cube. Hours have been spent in getting the right combination. Even today, solving it is no mean feat.

And what better way to bring to life the magic of the Rubik’s Cube or Magic Cube (as it was initially known) than have a doodle.

Search engine major has on Monday created a doodle to mark the 40th birthday of the Rubik's Cube.

The interactive doodle lets internet users try to solve the puzzle online.

The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian architecture professor Erno Rubik.

Six years later it was relaunched as the Rubik's Cube and since then has been one of the post popular brain-teaser games of the world.

So take some time off and happy playing!
