Google on Friday posted a doodle on its India home page on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
The doodle features six different teachers – a principal at his desk; a mathematics teacher solving problems on the board; a kindergarten teacher reading to kids; a sports teacher who is all set for a basketball game; the chemistry teacher in a lab; and, the music teacher.
Celebrated on September 5 every year, Teacher’s Day also marks the birth anniversary of India’s second President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a respected scholar and teacher of philosophy.
On this day, also called Guru Divas, students are known to honour teachers for their contribution.
However, World Teacher’s Day is actually observed on October 5. The UNESCO began observing World Teachers' Day on October 5 since 1994.
