Infosys will hire 35,000 employees during the financial year 2013, with 13,000 employees for the BPO division.
The company also said that there will be no wage hikes this fiscal. “It is not a time to look at wage hikes, we might look at it over the year when we get more comfort,” Mr V. Balakrishnan, Chief Financial Officer, said at a press conference on Friday.
He said about 1,200 employees will be hired onsite. The profile and the break-up of employees from different geographies is, however, yet to be decided, he said. In FY 2012, the company added a total of 45,000 employees.
Mr Balakrishnan also said the company would not be giving any wage hikes this year.
“We have had a large part of hiring onsite in the US and Europe and have hired 1,200 people onsite in 2012,” said Mr S.D. Shibulal, CEO and MD. “This is in line with our strategic direction. If you want to be strong in consulting and system integration, you need to have local presence,” he added.
He said that Infosys would be hiring employees for consulting and systems integration and also across other verticals. “We will also be creating new kinds of jobs,” he said, but did not give details on this.
“Utilisation of employees is low and the company will look to address this going forward,” said Mr Sundararaman Viswanathan, Manager, Consulting, Zinnov.
Infosys and its subsidiaries added 10,676 employees in the fourth quarter of 2012, while the net addition was 4,906 people. For 2012, the attrition came down from 15.4 per cent to 14.7 per cent, leaving the total employee count at 1,49,994 employees at the end of the fiscal 2012.
