Intel has launched a campaign to make people aware of the use of personal computer (PC) devices, covering 40 cities in ten states over six weeks, according to Jitendra Chaddah, Director of Strategy and Planning, Intel India.

He told reporters here on Monday that Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam were the three cities being covered in the campaign that provides technology for computer designs, building processors and other essential technologies.

He said PC penetration was 40 per cent in other BRIC countries whereas it was only 10 per cent in India. The programme called “My Discoveries” was aimed at taking computers closer to people. In Visakhapatnam a kiosk would be set up at CMR Central to help people know the advantages of using PCs and how the technology would help them change.

As a part of National Digital Literacy Mission, Intel and Nasscom are partnering a Government of India optic fibre network to 2,500 panchayats. He said as a part of the programme 15 computers were set up at Parawada in Visakhapatnam district to help people familiarise themselves with computers.
