Smartphone manufacturer Karbonn mobiles is developing a smartphone that can accommodate both Android and Windows operating systems, Sudhir Hasija, Chairman, Karbonn mobiles, told reporters on the sidelines of an event .
He said the company’s 200-member research and development team is working on enhancing processing speeds that can support two operating systems.
Partnering MicrosoftThe company announced a partnership with Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona two days ago to manufacture smartphones running on the Windows platform. The company will produce phones with screen size in the range of 4-5 inches on the Windows platform, but the pricing of these phones have to be worked out, he said.
At the mobile congress, Microsoft has announced that it will tweak its systems to allow hardware makers to use the same devices for different operating systems.
Selling two million phones a month now, Karbonn is also looking at Tamil Nadu to set up a one-million-a-month plant to augment capacity.
