Kerala IT is seeking to enter the information and communication technology sector in Denmark as part of a strategy unveiled by the State Government and the Group of Technology Companies (GTech).

The move is expected to help the small and medium enterprises in the State identify new business opportunities in the European IT destination, a spokesman for the GTech said here on Wednesday.

This is part of the ‘market connect' strategy adopted under the public-private partnership model to establish global linkages.

The idea is to build business partnerships with international stakeholders, governments, customers and industry associations.

A delegation of the Kerala IT industry — headed by Ms Ishita Roy, Director, Kerala State IT Mission — is in Denmark to facilitate business meeting for IT entrepreneurs from the State. The delegation comprises of industry representatives and Government officials.

A series of networking meetings and business interactions have been organised by Kerala IT in partnership with GTech and ‘Invest in Denmark', under the Ministry of External Affairs, Royal Government of Denmark.

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES

The Danish information and communication technology (ICT) market offers unique opportunities for Kerala IT sector in emerging sectors such as clean technology, health, mobile applications and life sciences, which have been identified as thrust areas.

The Scandinavian region has been witnessing a surge in adoption of ICT and research and development investments on IT infrastructure that provide a unique opportunity for Kerala companies, the spokesman said.

The Technopark-based Experion Global has used the visit to clinch major deals with Danish counterparts for developing mobile applications for the Scandinavian market. This was initiated through a ‘match-making' programme organised by Kerala IT and GTech in partnership with Invest in Denmark.

Both sides have agreed to launch a platform to establish joint venture projects for further cooperation.

According to Ms Ishita Roy, Kerala's IT industry could play a critical role in sustaining the competitiveness of the Nordic economies by offering cost advantages and quality solutions.

This is the first major initiative aimed at showcasing and linking technology companies from Kerala to Danish counterparts.
