Mobile devices maker Lava plans to invest about Rs 55 crore this year to strengthen its R&D capabilities, and will launch a tablet PC in August priced below Rs 10,000.
It also has plans to launch two smartphone models by September.
“This year we are investing close to Rs 55 crore...Next month, we will launch tablet PC in the price range of Rs 7,000 - 8,000,” Lava Co-founder and Director Mr S N Rai said.
The tablet will have a seven inch capacitive touchscreen, 1.2 Ghz processor, and 4GB internal and 16GB external memory.
Experts have forecast that market for Indian tablet PC, will grow to a million units in volume in the next 12 months.
