Forget your next-door software engineer who assembles a PC, top PC maker Lenovo is going to start a service where you can configure your own branded computer using online window.
You can choose the PC to suit your specific requirements. After successfully launching the service in other countries, the company is now planning to bring the concept to India where assembling PCs is a popular practice.
“We are looking at a time-frame of February-March next year to launch the service in India. We need to get relevant sanctions to start it,” Ajit Sivadasan, Vice-President and General Manager of Lenovo, told Business Line .
After the users complete their configuration, the system will send the order to the assembly line where it is built and shipped directly to the customers. The company, which earns about 10 per cent of its revenues from online sales, has begun to use social media to address the grievances of consumers. “We are using sentiment analysis tools to attend to such complaints,” he said.
