Microsoft Corp India Pvt Ltd launched Internet Explorer 9 at TechEd India 2011. Microsoft said that it had partnered with 29 Web sites in India and 250 Web sites globally to showcase IE9's capabilities.
Mr Hemant Sachdev, Joint Managing Director, Microsoft India, said, “Internet Explorer 9 has been downloaded 2.3 million times in just 24 hours of its global launch, and has already gained more than 2 per cent usage on Windows 7”.
The new version incorporates features such as One-Box that allows users to search directly from the address bar. The new product also uses hardware acceleration and has an add-on performance advisor to notify users if add-ons are slowing down their browsing session.
IE9 also features an ‘App Rep' that can distinguish between reputable downloads by using a digital signature and warn users about malicious downloads.
