HP-owned IT services company MphasiS is incubating two new areas of businesses — product engineering services (PES) and payment solutions.
Under PES, the company is working on solutions for smart appliances where there would be a single chip connecting different appliances used by the customer such as microwaves, fridges and home security systems.
“The idea is that we believe that there would be a proliferation of different kind of intelligence appliances. Our job is to help customers build intelligence into appliances,” Mr Ganesh Ayyar, Chief Executive Officer, MphasiS, told Business Line .
“We aren't getting into appliance business, but we are taking our framework to build intelligence into appliances,” he added. The company is focused on areas such as automotive devices, medical devices, and communication devices, Mr Ayyar said.
In the payment solutions space, the company is working on providing ‘end-to-end solutions' addressing specific business opportunities and market events like the rapid proliferation of mobile phones as a channel for transactions, regulatory mandates, and the evolution of consumer-to-consumer and consumer-to-business payments channels.
The company will also be announcing more platform-based solutions, Mr Ayyar said.
MphasiS works on a platform-based BPO model with Jetsrat where the company provides BPO services and is doing work on transactions and accounts payables.
MphasiS recently reoriented its strategy to hyper specialisation in application services, business processes outsourcing and infrastructure management. “We will move to the next level of detailing,” he said. MphasiS works primarily in the field of banking, capital markets and insurance.
Apart from this, the company is also focusing on Sri Lanka and Indonesia. “The company's presence is increasing in Sri Lanka and is at infancy stages in Indonesia,” Mr Ayyar said.
