Online career and recruitment solutions provider Monster.com witnessed a surge in resumes from NRIs last year. In fact, the statistics were so overwhelming that the global e-recruitment company decided to launch a new service for overseas Indians eyeing the domestic job market. “At the end of 2010, we had about 2,80,000 resumes from NRIs, which was an increase of 65 per cent from the beginning of the year,” said Mr Sanjay Modi, Managing Director (India, Middle East and South East Asia), Monster.com.

Called Return2Home, the service is targeted at NRI jobseekers from the US, the UK, Canada, the Gulf region and South East Asia. “Recognising that India has grown all through the global recession and the fact that salary structures too have become competitive, NRIs now see this as the land of opportunities,” Mr Modi said.

Sectors that are hiring talent from overseas markets are IT, engineering, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare and construction, Mr Modi said. About 30-35 per cent of the resumes now come from West Asia, about 20 per cent from South East Asia, seven per cent from the US and the remaining from the rest of the world. The candidate profile ranges from one to over 10 years' experience, he added.

Monsterindia.com, with a presence across 11 cities in India has other initiatives for India. Job portal, ‘Rozgarduniya.com', launched in collaboration with ITC's e-Choupal enables employers in corporate India to connect with rural talent. The company has also partnered with Dish TV to bring the first job search ‘Monster Jobs Active' on TV. Monsterindia.com has 23 million jobseekers registered, with more than 15,000 jobseekers joining every day.
