The Infosys founder, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, has reportedly accepted the invitation of the West Bengal government to mentor its proposed IT panel, which will prepare a roadmap for attracting investments into the State IT sector.
“The State government had written to Mr Murthy earlier this month requesting him to be the chief mentor of the State IT panel. He has accepted the invitation,” the State Commerce, Industries and IT Minister, Mr Partha Chatterjee, said at an interactive session organised by the National Association for Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) in Kolkata on Tuesday.
According to Mr Chatterjee, the State has formed two IT panels – one each for hardware and software.
The Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information, Infrastructure and Innovations, Mr Sam Pitroda, has already agreed to chair both the panels. Former Nasscom president, Mr Kiran Karnik, will also be a member of one advisory committee.
The two panels will consist of industry players such as Mr S. Radhakrishnan, managing director of Descon, Mr Kalyan Kar, MD, Acclaris (India), and Mr Joydeep Dutta Gupta, executive director of Deloitte, among others.
