Chip maker Intel has launched new chips for computers running in data centres in India. The world’s largest chip maker announced its Xeon E5-2600 v2 line of flagship server chips that can power computers in stock exchanges and such financial institutions. Further, the new chips have up to 12 processor cores, support up to 30MB of cache and draw 60-130 watts of power, much lesser than the previous generations of processors, according to Intel officials. The new chips are 45 per cent more power efficient and deliver 50 per cent more performance compared to the previous chips, according to Intel.
