Nokia has launched Asha 501, ‘a new generation smartphone’ priced at Rs 5,100.
The phone runs on the new Asha platform, and comes in a choice of four colours – red, yellow, black and white. It features a removable shell and scratch-resistant, tempered glass display. The compact handset weighs 98 gm. Announcing the national launch of the phone, T.S. Sridhar, Regional General Manger (South), said Nokia Asha 501 will have two screens – Home and Fastlane.
While Home makes full use of the three-inch touch-screen, displaying a traditional application launcher, Fastlane will display recent activity on the phone as well as upcoming events, helping the user multitask.
Since Nokia Xpress Browser, the in-built software, can compress Internet data by up to 90 per cent, users can browse the Internet faster.
More apps
The phone also comes with over 50 pre-installed apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Like, Nimbuzz and WeChat, CNN, CricInfo and Twist Music and a pack of 40 EA (electronic arts) games free.
