Social media erupted in an outpouring of grief as technology bigwigs and Apple fans from across the world mourned the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
“Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you,” said Facebook Founder and CEO, Mr Mark Zuckerberg, on his ‘wall’.
The post got an overwhelming response — over 213,573 `likes’ at the last count.
In a statement issued earlier today, Microsoft co-founder, Mr Bill Gates, recounted how he and Jobs first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been “colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives”.
“The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honour. I will miss Steve immensely,” Mr Gates said.
HCL Technologies Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr Vineet Nayar, tweets: “For me #Stevejobs was an idea and not just a person that will live on and on and on.”
“#Stevejobs is no more but his ideas that ignited many minds will never die,” tweeted Mr Nayar.
