Qualcomm gets new India chief

US-based chipmaker Qualcomm Inc today appointed Mr Avneesh Agrawal as the new President of Qualcomm India and South Asia.

He replaces Mr Kanwalinder Singh, who has been appointed Senior Vice-President of Business Development in the newly-created New Markets Group within Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

“In this role, my job will be to focus on growing the Qualcomm chipset business in the machine-to-machine segment with initial focus on smart automotive and smart energy technologies,” Mr Singh said.

Mr Singh would be responsible for relationship and business development in these domains, besides solutions development and design, and would be based in the US and report to the Qualcomm Executive Vice-President and Group President, Mr Steve Mollenkopf.
