Reliance Jio has asked the Department of Telecom to allocate continuous spectrum in North East area. Reliance Jio had won 32 blocks of spectrum, (200 Khz each) in the 1800 MHz frequency band. However, parts of this spectrum are dispersed. This means that the spectrum given to Reliance Jio could be split into 2 or 3 chunks. Such an allocation would make it difficult for the operator to offer data services. While non-contiguous spectrum works for offering voice services, higher technologies need the airwaves to be bunched up together.
