Imaging and information technology solutions provider Ricoh India on Tuesday said that it has bagged a deal worth ₹1,370 crore with the Department of Posts to modernise post offices through automation.
The company said it is working along with Telecommunications Consultants India (TCIL), as the system integrator for a ‘Rural Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – Hardware (RH)’ solution. Ricoh India will supply, install and maintain services of hardware, peripheral devices and operating systems.
“We are committed to fulfil the objectives of the Department, and be part of the success of the Rural ICT - Hardware project,” Tetsuya Takano, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ricoh India, said.
The Rural ICT Project, which falls under the Ministry of Communications and IT, is part of the larger IT modernisation project being undertaken by the Department of Posts.
Primary goal The primary goal of the project is to improve quality of service, provide more value-added services and achieve ‘financial inclusion’ of the un-banked rural population.
This will provide a wider reach to the Indian populace through more customer interaction channels, the company added.
Ricoh India shares hit their 52-week high of ₹349 in trade on Tuesday. It closed 2.13 per cent higher at ₹321.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange against its previous close of ₹314.80.
