Sanjay Rohatgi quits Cisco

Sanjay Rohatgi, Managing Director, Service Provider, Cisco India & SAARC, has quit the company.

This is the second high profile exit from Cisco after its India head Naresh Wadhwa quit earlier this year.

When contacted Sanjay confirmed the development but did not disclose the reasons for his exit.

“I will be with Cisco till January and I am yet to decide on my next move. I have a couple of offers in hand,” he said.

Sanjay was leading Cisco’s business with telecom service providers and cable operators across India & SAARC region.

In his previous role, Sanjay was the Managing Director and General Manager Sales for Cisco’s Indonesian operations. During his tenure, Cisco Indonesia was the second fastest growth country in APAC for Cisco.

Prior to this, in Indonesia Sanjay was the Director and Head of Cisco’s Service Provider (Telco) business for the Asia Region (8 Countries). Under his leadership the telco business grew to new levels on all fronts in terms of revenue growth, key solution insertion and alternative business models to add value to customers.Sanjay joined Cisco in 2004 from Nortel, where he was Director Business Development for Optical Ethernet for the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong.

He has also worked for Telstra Corporation in Sydney, Australia and was responsible for the development of Telstra's Internet Data Centre business and marketing of services within Australia.

Sanjay holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Sydney Australia, and Masters in Opto-Electronics from Strathclyde University in the UK. He also holds a first class honours Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunications from India.
