Mahindra Satyam has suffered a set back with Satbir Kohli, an old timer and heading the company’s SAP Practice, putting in his papers. The company has set a target of $0.5 billion for this vertical, as it aims to become a $5-billion firm in the next 3-4 years.

Mahindra Satyam’s SAP practice is one of the strongest in the industry with over 2,500 employees. As Senior Vice-President and Global Head SAP Practice, he commanded a business of $150 million.

Confirming his exit, a senior executive said the company could appoint an outsider to head the crucial vertical. “We expect this vertical to grow to $0.5 billion in the next three years. We are looking at a leader who could drive the business to achieve the target. We have about 5-6 leads from outside,” the executive, who didn’t want to be named, said.

Kohli, who started his career with Mahindra and Mahindra’s, worked for Mahindra Consulting and Deloitte before joining Satyam.

As the merger process with Tech Mahindra is progressing, the company has brought Gurudatta as head of Oracle practice as it moves VSR (V Srinivasa Rao) to the newly created NMACS (Networks, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud and Security).

Results today

Meanwhile, the board of directors of the company would meet here on Thursday to consider the financial results for the third quarter ended December 3.

Though it could settle all the legal and statutory cases in the US and Europe, the company faced a few court cases in India. A few minority shareholders filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the unfavourable merger swap ratio.

Another firm had filed a winding up petition against the IT firm for not repaying the loans it extended during the Ramalinga Raju regime. It is posted for February 4.

The company also awaits a nod from the court for the merger plan. The court had appointed Brahmayya and Co to look into the books of various firms that are to merge into one entity. Incidentally, it would come up for hearing on Thursday.
