Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is hiring more from Indian campuses.

TCS has made 43,600 offers for this year. The company had made 38,000 offers in FY12 and 20,000 campus offers in FY11.

Mr Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice-President, Head, Global Human Resources, TCS, said, “The approximate joining ratio is 70-72 per cent. The current utilisation rate is 80.6 per cent and we plan to take it up to 84 per cent.” TCS recruits from more than 380 institutes in India.

The average age of the workforce is 28 years. Women comprise 31.6 per cent of the company's workforce. TCS added 70,400 professionals in 2011-12 and plans to recruit 50,000 people in the financial year.

ONSITE HIRING

The company plans to increase onsite hiring because visa rejection rates (for the US) in the L1 category are nearly 50 per cent.

Mr Mukherjee said, “As the visa rejection has increased, our job now has become more complex. It requires detailed planning and effort. Due to the high rejection rate in the L1 category, there is more reliance on H1 visas. There is also more reliance on business associates now.” Last year, TCS applied for around 4,500 visas in the H1 category.
