TCS, the country's largest IT exporter saw an all-time high in the gross addition of employees in FY12. It made a gross addition of 70,400 employees in the year ending March 2012, with a net addition of 39,969 employees.
This was the highest increase ever addition, bringing the total headcount to 2.4 lakh. The net addition for the fourth quarter was 11,832 with a gross addition of 19,156.
Attrition worry
However, the company reported an attrition rate of 12.2 per cent for the fourth quarter. “With business demand continuing to be robust, we have made 43,600 offers on campuses for trainees to join us from the second quarter of this fiscal year,” said Mr Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice-President, Head, Global Human Resources. The software firm expects to add 50,000 in the next financial year.
The company has made 1,600 gross additions in the US this year and would continue to do so, said Mr Mukherjee.
The average wage hike for India was 8 per cent and 6 to 8 per cent in the emerging markets. The utilisation rate excluding trainees was lower at 80.6 per cent (including trainees at 71.3 per cent).
