TechTop-2014, the ninth edition the national innovation contest for students of engineering colleges/institutes, will be held from July 25.
The venue this year will be the Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology here, according to Rajesh Nair, Managing Trustee of the TechTop Charitable Trust.

The theme for the event this year is ‘Improving lives of our rural population by application of technology.’ Nair said that organisers received 192 project proposals this year from engineering colleges across the country.
Only the best 17 have been shortlisted as finalists, which will be displayed in the exhibition on July 25 and 26. They compete for a cash prize of ₹1 lakh sponsored by Degree Controls.
The second prize is ₹50,000; third prize ₹20,000; and two consolation prizes of ₹10,000 each. A women-in-technology prize of ₹20,000 will be awarded to the best all-women team.
NEXT STAGE
“TechTop is also transforming to the next stage and we want this event to be a platform to promote, train and launch entrepreneurs,” Nair said.
“We want to push more people to unleash their potential in entrepreneurship.”
TechTop is organised by TechTop Charitable Trust and is supported by Degree Controls, Qualcomm, Technopark, ATE Enterprises, IndusAge, Kerala Financial Corporation and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.
