A US court has refused to lift the ban on sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the country.
Samsung has appealed against this decision to the Federal Appeals Court in Washington, DC.
The tablet market in the US is huge and a Forrester Research report in March said that over 112 million Americans, or one-third of the US adult population, will own a tablet by 2016.
Samsung is currently the second biggest player in the Android tablet market in the US.
Research firm comScore said that Samsung’s US market share among Android tablets stands at 15.4 per cent for February 2012, below the Amazon Kindle Fire, which has a market share of 54.4 per cent.
Apple’s iPad continues to dominate tablets.
According to market research firm, DisplaySearch, for the quarter ended March 31, 2012, Apple sold 13.6 million tablets, giving it a market share of 62.8 per cent. Samsung sold 1.6 million, getting a market share of 7.5 per cent.
