Students at Vel Tech Technical University will now have access to the latest design and engineering solution of Dassault Systems, which is recognised as an industry standard.
Usually, students learn the solution after they pass out of the college. This may take a year or two to specialise in the solution, and thereafter they get jobs in companies such as Larsen & Toubro or Mahindra & Mahindra.
However, through the tie-up the students will learn how to use the solution on campus itself. When they pass out of the college they can be readily absorbed by various companies. By this, the students save at least a year's time.
There is a good demand in India for students with knowledge in the solution of Dassault Systems.
Nearly, 2,000 companies are using the solution in product development, said a company official.
The university and the French company have together set up a lab in the university at a cost of Rs 2 crore to help students gain knowledge in the 3D and product lifecycle management solution of Dassault Systems. “We want to nurture students coming out of the university to be absorbed immediately by companies with knowledge in Dassault Systems' solutions,” said Mr Andy Kalambi, Dassault's President for South Asia.
Vel Tech will be the first Indian university to offer courses on Dassault Systems' version 6 solutions in the engineering curriculum, said Dr R. Rangarajan, Chancellor, Vel Tech.
