Vodafone India has installed an Insta network in Chhatrapur, Odisha, where telecom sites were down since Saturday.
An Insta network is an instant and portable site and can be installed by using car batteries and can be run by a petrol genset, the company said in a statement.
The network, which put up in ‘record time’, is part of the company’s initiatives to improve connectivity in the regions of Odisha ravaged by cyclone Phailin. The cyclone prompted India's biggest evacuation in 23 years with more than 9 lakh moved up from the coastline in Odisha to safer places.
Further, as part of its disaster relief efforts, Vodafone has also made ‘chota’ credit available to all its customers and also installed multi plug sockets (to charge phones) at the sites in affected areas.
