Aegis Ltd, a 100 per cent-owned company of the $17-billion Essar Group, is likely to go public during next financial year with plans to raise $300-400 million. It is also working on a plan to attract private equity investment before the listing, according to its Managing Director and Global CEO, Mr Aparup Sengupta.

“The PE investor should bring in strategic value to us,” he said.

“With revenue to touch $1 billion by March 2012, we were told by bankers that it was the right time to do a listing,” Mr Sengupta told

Business Line on the sidelines of the Nasscom forum , which ended today.

The global outsourcing services company has not set any time frame to hit the market, but has started talking to bankers to firm up the listing. The listing could be in India, the US or the UK stock exchanges.

Aegis is an outsourcing services partner for over 150 clients. It employs over 50,000 employees (half in India) across 50 locations, with a presence in India, the Philippines, the US, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia, Argentina, South Africa and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It serves sectors such as BFSI, Telecom, Healthcare, Travel and Hospitality, Consumer Goods, Retail and Technology, Energy and Utilities, and Publishing and Media.

In the last four years, Aegis has done 18 acquisitions, though there were none last year.

“We will grow by 43 per cent this financial year to $1 billion and the entire growth will be organic. This will clear the myth that we have grown only through acquisitions,” he said.

Bankers said Aegis was the youngest company to hit the $1-billion mark.

While it took 8-9 years for many companies to hit $1 billion, it took just four years for Aegis, he said.

Aegis was one of the 16 global outsourcing companies to be evaluated in Gartner Inc's 2011 Magic Quadrant for Customer Management Contact Center BPO Worldwide, in a report published on December 19, 2011.

The report evaluated service providers on their customer management contact centre BPO capabilities in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
