Aegis, part of the $35-billion Essar Group, is in the process of establishing seven new delivery centres in India so that it can cater to the increasing demand for back-office services from domestic clients.
In the process, the company will add 3,000 seats for a capital investment of $4000 per seat by March 31, 2016, said Sandip Sen, Global Chief Executive Officer.
The new centres would come up in Ajmer (Rajasthan), Karnal (Haryana), Shivamogga (Karnataka), Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Dehradun (Uttaranchal) and Guwahati (Assam).
“We are seeing strong demand in India, especially from ecommerce companies, telecom players and public sector banks. The domestic back-office space is truly at an inflexion point as customers are now willing to pay a premium for high-quality services,” said Sen.
Aegis says that it is seeing traction for both voice and non-voice back-office services.
Correspondingly, the company will add 7,000 new jobs to its India headcount by March 31, 2016.
Overall, Aegis plans to hire 11,000 people during the same period across India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and other geographies.
Currently, Aegis has a global workforce of around 40,000 staffers.
