Move over augmented reality: it is time for augmented humanity. Even as ‘intelligent’ machines transform our relationship with technology, the rate at which Artificial Intelligence and machine learning is evolving has changed the conventional relationship between the master (humans) and the servant (machines) so much that there is perfect harmony and seamless interplay between both, say experts.
It is imperative to embrace the power of technology, says Shamsuddin Jasani, Group Managing Director, Isobar South Asia. “We are on the edge of an augmented age where technology is redefining the possibilities of what a human can truly be capable of.”
Noting that in the coming years, humanity will evolve through the application of technology, Jasani said the information and digital tools that we currently rely on will soon occupy every space. The time is not far, he adds, when the bubble of digital information will envelop every human — maintaining health records, offering a range of entertainment choices and keeping tabs on routine tasks through the family calendar.
Highlighting how augmented humanity will be another landmark in our evolution as humans, Isobar, the digital agency from the Dentsu Aegis Network, has outlined in a report some of the myriad opportunities that will open up due to the technological developments. While these developments represent great potential for businesses and brands, they are also likely to lead to digital disruption.
Jean Lin, Isobar’s Global CEO, said with technology playing a key role “in driving relevance, scale and elevating human experiences, it is our job to harness its power and the potential for businesses and brands.”
Voice, the game changer
Isobar’s report says that in 2019, digital technology will be omnipresent with ‘voice’ set to be the biggest game changer in the field of marketing. It has commented on the evolving interface, the intersection between humans and technology, and on the human algorithm, with data aiding in better understanding. In terms of the fluid versus the collective self, the report shows how the digital world is set to enhance personal and collective experiences, and has also highlighted the concept of Augmented Humanity.
