Aircel users trying to port to other networks are facing a peculiar issue, and there is nobody to sort it out in Aircel. Many users are getting messages that their porting request "has been rejected" because of the mismatch in the Unique Porting Code (UPC) - the porting number received after the porting request is sent.
Other telecom operators, including Airtel, Vodafone, Jio and Idea are clueless, like the Aircel customers, as there is not much feedback from Aircel on the issue. “There is nobody we can contact in Aircel as most staff have left. Those who have stayed back haven't been paid salaries and are also overworked," said a telecom industry source.
Users, too, are clueless as there isn't much they can do. A user who got the porting code a couple of weeks ago, received the "rejection" message recently. There are other users who have not received any message but are still waiting.
