Bharti Airtel will soon apply to migrate its existing licence to the new unified licences. However, the company has set some conditions in accepting the new licences. Under the new regime, licences are de-linked from spectrum and operators are required to pay a market determined price. However, the operators have gone to court against some of the provisions under the new regime. Airtel has told the telecom department that it was willing to sign up subject to the final ruling of the court. The DoT is likely to accept the condition set by the operator and issue the new unified licence.
