Bharti Airtel will take full control of its broadband venture with Qualcomm next year. The company has already acquired 51 per cent stake in the Qualcomm units, which has spectrum for offering fourth generation-based technology in four circles.
The board of directors of Bharti Airtel has also approved the sale of its data centre undertaking by way of slump sale to its newly incorporated wholly owned subsidiary Nxtra Data Ltd.
The above is subject to shareholder approval. The company will look to dilute stake in the data centre business and will approach other telecom companies.
Airtel has already hived off its fixed line business into a separate entity with the objectives of creating joint venture with other telecom companies.
