e-commerce solutions provider Amazon Development Centre (India) Pvt Ltd has requested the Andhra Pradesh Government to sort out the legal issues on the land allotted to it at the earliest.
This request was made by Mr John Schoettler, Senior Executive of Amazon, during a meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, here on Wednesday.
Following a memorandum of understanding in 2005, the State Government had allotted 10 acres in the financial district, Nanakramguda here to Amazon to build a development centre.
However, the US-based company ran into trouble while taking the possession of land as it was encroached by some villagers.
Later, in response to some writ petitions, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered maintenance of status quo on the land allotment.
The company subsequently started its research and development centre in leased premises. According to the MoU, Amazon.com had committed to create a direct employment of 1,750 but already employs over 4,000 professionals.
The Hyderabad facility had posted a turnover of Rs183 crore during 2010-2011, according to a release.
