Amazon.in, the Indian arm of global e-commerce giant Amazon, today announced that it has become the most visited site in the country.
Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos in a personalised e-mail letter to all its customers said Amazon India has surpassed its rivals (read Flipkart and Snapdeal) to become the most visited e-commerce platform in just two-and-a-half years of launch in the Indian market.
Bezos also said to celebrate the occassion, Amazon would be giving away Amazon Gift Cards worth Rs 200 to all customers who place an order worth Rs 500.
The Gift Card will be added to the customer's account by January 20, 2016, the company said. A user can only avail of one Gift Card. Users can, however, opt for the cash-on-delivery (CoD) payment mode, the letter added.
The letter also provides statistics from research and analytics firm comScore that talks about Amazon's leading position in the burgeoning e-commerce market in India.
"This customer response continues to amaze and energise us," Bezos said adding that "we have built a vibrant marketplace with tens of thousands of sellers offering everyday low prices on India's largest selection of over 30 million products and bringing alive our ‘Aur Dikhao’ promise to customers. We will keep growing our investments in India and continue to work hard for our Indian sellers and customers.
“At Amazon, we like to say it is still day 1, and that is certainly true for us in India,” he said while signing off.
