Amazon.in today announced the launch of its globally popular ‘Subscribe and Save’ programme for its customers in India.

By enrolling for this programme, customers can create subscriptions for regularly bought items and enjoy the convenience of automatic recurring free deliveries.

Amazon’s technology platform enables consumer convenience on one hand and enables sellers to make efficient and predictable decisions related to procurement, stocking and listing on the other.

Quite frequently, parents realise that they have forgotten to buy new pack of diapers only when they pull out the last piece from the existing diaper pack or customers discover that they have run out of grocery items only when they step into the kitchen to cook a meal after a long hard day at work or purchases of pet food, cleaning supplies etc, are postponed as customers find it cumbersome to buy and carry home heavy and bulky packs.

Benefits ‘Subscribe and Save’ addresses such customer problems, allows customers to replenish products that are consumed frequently such as diapers, baby care, laundry products, grocery products, beauty, personal care products, stationery and even pet products. With automatic deliveries of recorded lists, as per schedule set by them, ‘Subscribe and Save’ reduces the customers’ inconvenience of repeat ordering.

Commenting on the launch of the programme, Saurabh Srivastava, Head FMCG, Amazon India, said, “The ‘Subscribe and Save’ programme is yet another example of Amazon innovation and working backwards approach to meet customers’ needs. It is a very successful programme in other countries and is used by millions of Amazon’s customers. We are confident that our customers in India will see tremendous benefits from the programme.”

After creation of the first Subscribe and Save subscription, items included in customer’s list will ship immediately with free standard shipping.

The day of the first delivery becomes the customers’ default monthly delivery date, and all future subscriptions will arrive on the same date of the next month.

Customers can select a frequency for every item (1-6 month intervals) and automatic orders will be created based on the monthly delivery day based on the frequency set. If a customer needs an item sooner than the scheduled delivery day, they can request a subscribed item for immediate shipment.

Other feature The item shipped earlier than the scheduled delivery day will not enjoy the benefit of the Subscribe and Save saving and will incur applicable shipping charges. Apart from creation of automatic monthly orders that get delivered to customers for free, the system also generates an alert for the customer about the upcoming order, prior to shopping.

Customers also have the convenience to skip deliveries, change quantity, change schedule, change delivery date through the “Your Subscribe & Save” account on Mobile & PC.
