Amazon.in has launched an urban fulfilment centre in Chennai to support prime deliveries and enable faster order fulfilment in the upcoming festive season.
The center has a storage capacity of over 100,000 cubic ft. This is the second of the six FCs planned in readiness for the festive season.
With this launch, Amazon.in has 23 operational FCs in ten states with a combined storage space of more than 6 million cubic ft, says a company press release.
The new FC has been set up in a Central Warehousing Corporation building, which used to be the erstwhile Golden Studios. The building has been renovated extensively, transforming it into an FC. Apart from enabling faster delivery and creating direct employment, this FC will fuel the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state, the release said.
